Matches & Competitive Play

We've been hard at work creating new features and bug fixes that you may be interested in.

You'll notice that some rooms have [Match] next to their title. This is a competitive system that encourages players to play at the best of their abilities. This system is made up from two elements, Element 1, and Element 2. These elements are comprised of the guards, and the intruders. When you choose one element, you'll remain on that element unless you're auto-balanced onto another element, if you switch sides, or quit and re-join, or complete the first part of the best-of-7 system. This 'best-of-7' system is comprised of 2 sets. These sets are made up of 3 rounds, each. When an element wins a round, they recieve a point. During the event that both elements have 3 points after both sets, there is a tie breaker. After this tie breaker, the match scoreboard will reset.

A few AUG memebers like myself have been testing this for sometime now. We noticed that players have wanted to have the ability to switch sides after X amount of rounds. This solves this issue and below you can watch a video of how a full match looks like.

What are you waiting for, download build 74 and come play!

Reticle and Scope updates!

intruder new scope

Hey everyone! We've been hard at working to provide a better experience. One of the updates we've just released deals with the sniper rifle scope and SMG red dot sight. Here is a side by side comparison of these.

On the left, we can see the older version of the red dot and sniper scope and on the right, we have the new and improve optic sights. (Go full screen to really check it out)

The process of aiming has not changed yet aiming is much easier with the new and improved red dot sight for the SMG. It provides a visual que where the bullet is going to go when you shoot where as the eariler version was much harder to tell where the bullet would travel. The new sniper scope no longer has white around the scope which is a huge graphical improvement and even feels better to use.

We'll have more info on this patch coming up. Remember to update your game and come check it out!

Mountainside Update

Hey folks,

Big news. At 4:21PM EDT (0821Z) on 27/Sep/16, Rob released an epic new Intruder map.

To play it, you need to download a fresh version of Intruder. If you don't have the game yet, you can purchase the game to access the current alpha and any/all future versions.

Mountainside, or 'mside' is the largest (official) map to date. Intruders spawn on a bridge far above the main building and can take a number of routes down towards the mysterious satellite facility.

ziplines are fun

Ziplines will take you to different parts of Mountainside.

Meanwhile, the guards spawn inside the building with binoculars close-at-hand. Using the bino's gives a decent view of the other team and the directions they're headed - but at this point the teams are too far away to hit each other without a sniper rifle.
intruder/guard staring contest
Both teams can get a sniper rifle but it takes a little time and teamwork (or a lot of time without teamwork). Often a hasty plan is made for one teammate to fetch the sniper code while another hangs near the keypad where you retrieve the rifle. Poor communication here can mean a missed chance to get the rifle.

helipad code and keypad
Some intruders will zipline down from the bridge, while some may stay up there in an overwatch role. Both teams communicate enemy positions by sending binocular pictures to each other. It's great fun to just spy on enemies from across the map and inform your team about what's going on.

Guards will probably find that staying inside and locking down the building as best they can gives them the most chance of winning - but of course this changes round by round. The main building has two floors + roof level. Both floors have 3 hackable computer systems each and 4 systems need to be hacked for the the intruders to win. There are 6 security cameras around the building and 2 security rooms (upstairs and downstairs) where the guards can monitor them.

mortar/spotlight on guard building roof
Both teams also have access to mortars, with 3 on the map in total. One is on the roof of the main building, facing stage left, and can be accessed directly or remotely, from either of the security rooms. The other two mortars are on the mountains on either side of the map ('stage left' and 'stage right') and both face the guard building.

Other fun stuff includes: wind and flags, rock vents, a secret tunnel, a helipad capture point available only with the right code, an attack heli to wipe intruders off the bridge, the entire garden maze, numerous building vents, destructible barriers, and more that I don't even remember.

When you’re new to the map it can all be a bit overwhelming. You’ll probably pick it all up as you play, especially if you have some time to wander around and investigate the map. If not, your fellow players should be more than happy to give you a run-down on the basics of the map (and the game, if you’re brand new). Of course you can ask for help in the discord chat too.

If you’d prefer to go in already prepared or you just like picture guides you can thank R3vo because he’s putting together an overview of the map and all its bits.

History of Mountainside

Although unannounced until now, Mside has been a long (long) time in the making. It's actually more than 2 years old - in concept at least. There were some hold-ups along the way, and only in the past month or so has this latest version come together. I'm sure everyone will agree it was worth it. It’s still not perfect though, so expect further changes in the future.

Here are some pictures of the map through various stages of development.

Get the game

In case you weren’t aware, Intruder in in alpha and is available to purchase for a minimum of $10. Less if you buy giftcodes at the same time.

If you already have the game, download an up-to-date version from here.

You should join us in our Discord chat. You can report bugs either in chat or here.

Have fun.

Community Video Showcase: | Intruder | Pig Play #10 |

Howdy! It has been some time since the last Community Video Showcase and a lot has changed since then. If you have not noticed, you must be living under a rock. If you do happen to live under a rock, Intruder has moved to Unity 5, we have new Target Practice Trudaz Face balloons, an energy system has been implemented, and now Intruders and Guards have hands! That's not all that has happened, but that's not the point of this article. This article's purpose is to showcase a community video, and the agent FleshyPig has uploaded a video that shows great communication skills even when the situations call for total silence. Who knew hands could be so handy?

Great matches like these can only be made by great players. Many thanks to FleshyPig, JigiSix, neonjackal, and SerrinsToes for making great matches to showcase. There are many more players who add to the community and you can too! Why not add yourself to the Recent Players list and start up some matches today!

Chrome Extension / Firefox Addon Released

Intruder Notifications
Hey agents,
Have you ever jumped on Intruder at 2 am, joined an empty server, and waited in vain for others to join you? This is a surprisingly common scenario. Of course we're still a small community and this is normal, but it sure does suck. The worst part is because people arn't inclined to do it twice, the person playing alone at midnight will often be completely unaware of another person in the same situation at 1am. Lots of missed games. No fun. If only there were a way they could find each other and play together...
I'm happy to say this is a solved problem. Rob recently created and released the Intruder extension for Google Chrome and the Intruder Firefox addon. They're both called 'Intruder Notifications' and they're functionally identical, so use the one for the browser you prefer. You can see how many people are on which servers. You can see regular notifications when people are playing. You can be notified when a certain amount of people are playing. It's not very complicated, and it works well.
Intruder Notifications screenshots showing all aspects of the extension
So far it's already been remarkably successful at getting players together. We've had numerous 6v6 games at 2am since the extensions have been released. Plus, presumably it will be even more effective as more people learn about and install the extension.
You should get it now...
So what's the backstory?
The results of Bloxri's survey made it very clear that the Intruder community wanted some way to see server information without running the game. Within the span of a week it seemed like Rob came up with the idea of an extension, talked to the community about it in Discord  - and decided to go ahead with it. Both extensions were actually created in just a couple of days, while Rob was [redacted] in the bahamas with all his [redacted]. He figured he should put in some [redacted] so ya'll would send him more [redacted]. Anyway, download the extension and have fun!

Target Practice

Intruder balloons

Hey Trudas,

Rob has been working on trudy-faced balloon targets.

Intruder Bloons in garden

Looks pretty cool, right? They're satisfying to shoot too.

For now they're just target practice when you first join an empty server, but eventually they could be a deployable gadget. Personally I found they really are great practice. They taught me to use the sniper rifle properly. And they're addictive! I spent a good bit of time figuring out how to best run through the level to pop the balloons in the least amount of time.

Visit the discord chat to get the experimental Unity 5 build and play with them yourself :)

And don't hesitate to post your bloon speedruns to the Intruder subreddit. Just expect fierce competition.

Have fun.

Hang out with us on Discord

Discord overview.

Hey 'trudas.

Have you heard of Discord? It's a new chat service. We've been trying it out for a month or two now -- no secret to those who frequented our IRC channel. Turns out everyone likes it, so we're sticking with it. We want you to join and hang out with us.

What makes Discord cool?

  • It has text AND voice chat.
  • Text chat is permanent. You can join today and scroll back to see what's been said since the beginning of time.
  • You can edit and delete your messages, without restriction.
  • It has an intuitive user interface that is welcoming to new users.
  • There are web, desktop, and mobile apps for all common platforms.
  • Image and video links show inline previews. Links to ordinary webpages show description text.

Plus, our old IRC bot has joined us. He's not fully functional yet but his most useful feature works. He announces new games starting. I'll talk about Z26 in detail some other time, after he's more complete.

Z26 doing his thang.

Join the Superboss discord chat today! It's where the cool kids, robots, women, etc are at.

Speaking of IRC, our channel (#superbossgames on Freenode) is generally inactive these days. It's still somewhat populated, but it's an echo chamber because the regulars have migrated to Discord.

You're convinced? You want to join us in Discord?

How to join

Click Connect in the sidebar to the right or click here . We're pretty casual so don't be scared to join the conversation. The main rule? Be respectful. To say it another way: "just don't be a boop".

See you.

Community Video Showcase: Intruder :: Gameplay - Big Play (60fps)

Intruder :: Gameplay - Big Play (60fps)

#Halfgoofy - This video contains some strategies and tactics, but also some good old goofing around.

Howdy! Today we are looking at a recent video in heart stopping 60 FPS posted by the user OpticalF3AR. This video is a great example of how gameplay can be both lighthearted and have sneaky beaky aspects to it. The highlights of this video are most definitely the big plays that take place. This game of Cliffside is packed full of great people having great fun, hop on a server now and have yourself some fun!

Hello there, I'm ryguytheguy! Many of you may know me, but if you don't know me, hello! I'll probably be posting some articles here and there and you'll also be able to catch me in game as well.
